Creating, designing and managing the systems that keep things running is vital in our society, from the generation of heat, light and power, to the ease and speed of communication that we have come to expect. On this course you study topics including electronic design, communications, software engineering, computer modelling, microelectronics, power generation and distribution, electrical machines, signal processing, renewable energy systems, smart building systems and instrumentation.**How you learn**Year 1 establishes the fundamentals of engineering science, applicable mathematics and practical and project skills.Year 2 develops scientific and analytical skills through study of electrical energy systems, machines, control engineering, and electronic systems design. The students will take on a specialist role in a group project and start detailed planning of their career.Specialist options and projects in the final year will enables the students to undertake real life inquiry, investigation and discovery through the exploration of a specific research topic, project or consultancy within a relevant field to make an original contribution to their discipline or related industry requirements.Students will continuously develop their highly skilled employment attributes through the following work experience categories: Placement or Incorporated Placement, Authentic Work Experience, Scholarly Research or Innovation Work Experience.You learn through- lectures, tutorials and practical sessions- assessments including examinations,assignments and project work**Applied learning****Work placements**This course offers you the chance to undertake an optional placement in Year 3. A placement helps you to build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course. You will be employed by the company for 12 months. The placement year is a valuable tool that can enhance your employability and help you to develop as an individual.Our Placement Unit will be on hand to support you in applying for and finding suitable placement opportunities. They will assist you with preparing your CV and with interview techniques.The Placement Unit team are regularly in contact with local and national companies. Previous students have spent their placement year at companies including Siemens, Cummins, Network Rail, Caterpillar, Cetix Ltd, Power Control Limited, Servelec Group, Abaco Systems, ARM, BG Solutions, Chesterfield and Heraeus Electro-Nite (UK) Ltd.

为来自中国的学生设计 The following qualifications from China will be considered for entry on to undergraduate programmes, with a minimum average of 60 per cent: Diploma from Specialised College (Zhongzhnan); Diploma from Vocational Secondary School (Zhixiao); Three year middle school diploma plus foundation degree; and A levels. Graduate Diploma from: Radio and TV Universities; Spare Time Universities; Training Colleges for Administrative cadres; Higher Education Self Study Examinations; Adult Education/Adult Education in Science and Technology subjects; Senior High School Diploma; Chinese University Entrance Examination (until 2003); College Graduation Diploma (Dazhuan awarded by university/college on completion of 2-3 years study). Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a Chinese university may be considered for direct entry to Sheffield Hallam University undergraduate programmes. Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from international school students taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma and those achieving 28 points or more will usually be successful in obtaining an offer of a place on our undergraduate programmes. IELTS for UKVI 6.0; Listening: minimum level 5.5; Speaking: minimum level 5.5; Reading: minimum level 5.5; Writing: minimum level 5.5.
