Develop your intellectual knowledge of marketing communications and advertising, balancing theory and practice.**How you learn**The course is suitable if you don't meet the entry requirements for our BA (Hons) Marketing Communications and Advertising course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other Sheffield Business School foundation year students, then move on to the degree.You are taught by experienced professionals with a range of advertising, public relations, sales and marketing communications experience. You are provided with an academic and professional advisor in each year of your studies who will support you with personal and professional development planning and review.You learn through- lectures- seminars- problem solving exercises- case studies- individual and group presentationIn the foundation year, you'll study wider business topics, while specialising in your chosen subject area. You'll learn useful skills such as academic writing, work in diverse teams and learn to utilise a wide variety of data sources. In doing so, you'll fully prepare yourself for undergraduate study.**Applied learning****Work placements**The course incorporates and actively encourages work-based and work-related learning. Work-based learning is primarily through optional placements, where the course allows you the opportunity to undertake an industry placement. This is typically 48 weeks long in your third year of study.Due to our strong relationships with regional, national and international employers, we can help you to secure a great placement opportunity and support you while you are there. There are no tuition fees for the placement year and salaries of up to £22,000 are possible. If you are doing your work placement in another European country there may be funding available through the Erasmus programme (subject to the UK’s continued participation in the Erasmus programme following the Brexit transition period).**Live projects**In the third year of the course, you undertake a comprehensive set of activities focussed on employability, and in particular placements to support you in a year in industry. Work-related learning involves exercises that simulate the workplace and are run as part of modules on the course.**Networking opportunities**We are one of the few universities in the UK to have a student chapter linked to the CIM. This is a student learning community that complements and enhances your academic studies and allows you to link up with local professionals. Another way to prepare for your career is to make the most of your automatic membership of the Sheffield Hallam Student Marketing Society, which runs regular events with local and national employers.

为来自中国的学生设计 The following qualifications from China will be considered for entry on to undergraduate programmes, with a minimum average of 60 per cent: Diploma from Specialised College (Zhongzhnan); Diploma from Vocational Secondary School (Zhixiao); Three year middle school diploma plus foundation degree; and A levels. Graduate Diploma from: Radio and TV Universities; Spare Time Universities; Training Colleges for Administrative cadres; Higher Education Self Study Examinations; Adult Education/Adult Education in Science and Technology subjects; Senior High School Diploma; Chinese University Entrance Examination (until 2003); College Graduation Diploma (Dazhuan awarded by university/college on completion of 2-3 years study). Applicants who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree at a Chinese university may be considered for direct entry to Sheffield Hallam University undergraduate programmes. Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from international school students taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma and those achieving 28 points or more will usually be successful in obtaining an offer of a place on our undergraduate programmes. IELTS for UKVI 6.0; Listening: minimum level 5.5; Speaking: minimum level 5.5; Reading: minimum level 5.5; Writing: minimum level 5.5.
