专业概况

The department emphasizes both quality teaching and research. Several faculty members have received awards and prizes for teaching excellence and innovative research. The department aims to train people as experts in the study of politics and government, while encouraging students to acquire a sufficient background in other disciplines to enable them to correlate their specialized knowledge with all aspects of modern life.

The MA in Political Science is a 30 hour generalist program. Master's students take a core series of methods courses (seven hours) and at least eighteen hours of graduate seminars from among our major fields:

American Politics Comparative Politics International Relations Public Policy and Administration

During the second semester, a student selects an advisor who chairs a three-person faculty committee, which guides the student, reads the master's thesis or paper, and conducts an oral examination in the student's final semester.

为来自中国的学生设计 Minimum Admission Requirements: Have earned a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Have earned a 3.0 or better GPA in the last 60 hours of baccalaureate coursework (for applicants with less than a master’s degree). Language Requirements: TOEFL Internet-based - 80 (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing - 17 each), IELTS Academic - 6.5 (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing - 6 each), PTE - 59, Cambridge C1 Advanced - 180.
