The curriculum for the College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate major in Mathematics with a teacher education concentration provides a balance between theoretical and applied study, with the general objective of providing students with a substantial and broad background in mathematics that affords opportunities to develop skills in logical thinking, problem analysis, problem-solving, and computer usage for students interested in a career in teaching Mathematics at the secondary level.

This program approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, leads to the Initial Secondary License qualifying students to teach Secondary Mathematics. Students who major in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education may obtain an endorsement that prepares them for teaching in the middle school.

IELTS report with the minimum acceptable score of 6.0 academic version; TOEFL, a minimum acceptable score is as follows: 500 on paper based with 53 on reading, 54 on writing, 53 on Listening, 173 on computer based with 20 on reading, 21 on writing, 19 on Listening and IBT score of 68 with 19 on reading, 16 on writing, 18 on Listening and 15 on speaking; Pearson Test of English PTE score 47: Listening - 48; Speaking - 40; Reading - 51; Writing - 43.
