Poverty reduction is the ultimate measure of development effectiveness. On this Poverty and Development MA, you gain the knowledge and skills to engage with the design, implementation and assessment of national and international efforts to reduce poverty.

Through an interdisciplinary lens, you’ll develop a:

• sound understanding of the main theories of development and poverty reduction in development
• solid grounding in the concepts and skills needed to engage in debates on poverty and development.

This course is taught at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

CAREERS

IDS postgraduates are working to define and solve some of the most pressing global challenges. They are well prepared for academic research and work in:

• national governments
• development organisations
• the Civil Service
• civil-society organisations
