专业概况

在这里学什么？

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) curriculum is based in the liberal arts and incorporates a professional foundation that includes social work practice, human behavior and diversity, community social services, social policy, and research methods. Optional courses offer opportunities for in-depth study in a variety of social work practice areas such as child welfare, older adults, addiction recovery, hunger and homelessness, working with families, and school social work. During their final semester in the program, students complete 420-hour field placement in a social service setting

The BSW program prepares students for entry-level professional practice in social work and graduate academic studies. Students who graduate from this program are eligible for licensure as Certified Social Workers. Some of the practice areas in which students find employment include: hospitals and health clinics, behavioral health teams, health and human services agencies, schools, and other public and private organizations.

Required courses include:

Introduction to Social Work, The Development of Social Welfare and Social Work in the U.S., Research Methods in Social Work, Social Welfare Policy: Analysis and Advocacy, Human Behavior Theory for Social Work Practice, Multi-Cultural Social Work, and three practice courses that cover working with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations.
