专业概况

在这里学什么？

This programme draws together a variety of subjects that involve applying mathematical and statistical techniques in the financial services industry. It is designed to pave the way for students wishing to embark on a career as an actuary. Students will be prepared for professional exams leading to the qualification of an actuary from a globally recognized professional actuarial body.

Our programme is accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), UK. Students in our programme are eligible for exemptions from the IFoA professional exams for papers CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1 and CB2.

Our programme is also recognized by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), US. As the SOA requires students to undertake courses to fulfill their Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) requirements, our school offers subjects that will directly allow students to achieve their full VEE exemptions. We also prepare our students to sit for SOA professional exams throughout their undergraduate programme.

The Society of Actuaries (SOA), USA, Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), USA, and Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) conduct actuarial professional exams leading to professional designations such as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA).

Our programmed also provides exemptions for 3 papers (VEE) from the professional bodies on condition that the student scores at least B- (or equivalent grade) in the designated subjects offered in the program me.

The Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) is an alternative professional qualification for students to consider. There is an accelerated pathway to this professional qualification, via our BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Studies programme. Students are eligible for exemptions of up to 11 AMII modules (out of 14 AMII modules), with the possibility of completing the remaining modules within the 3-year degree. This is an exclusive opportunity for the students to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree and professional qualification upon graduation.

Students have the option of transferring to Macquarie University to complete their degree in Australia under a 1+2 articulation arrangement

Students have the option of transferring to University of East Anglia to complete their degree in the UK under a 1+2 articulation arrangement

Students have the option of transferring to University of Kent to complete their degree in the UK under a 1+2 articulation arrangement

English language requirements - TOEFL: 550 (paper-based), 213 (Computer-based), 80 (Internet-based); IELTS: 6.0; PTE Academic: 50 overal (minimum 46 in each skill); MUET: Band 4; O-Level English (1119): Credit; SPM English: B3 or B+; UEC English: B4; Sunway Intensive English Programme (IEP): Pass Level 4 with minimum 65%; ESL / English Satisfactory level in Pre-University Programmes.
