专业概况

在这里学什么？

The mission of the Secondary Education Program in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction is to prepare highly qualified teachers to work with secondary students in diverse middle and high school settings, and to provide opportunities for teacher candidates to develop knowledge in their professional fields, acquire pedagogical skills for improving and assessing student learning, and develop dispositions expected of professional educators. In this program, students will receive secondary certification with the physics major. Students majoring in physics at USD take a traditional undergraduate physics curriculum that includes courses in classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, and electronics. As the only physics major in the state housed in a College of Arts and Sciences, the program includes the rich tradition of the liberal arts. Students graduating with a B.S. in physics are expected to speak and write well, possess critical thinking skills, and have an interdisciplinary perspective that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives. This course can also study in school of education department.

English language requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 71 or higher (iBT); 530 or higher (paper test); IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 5.5 or higher; ACT or SAT - ACT English 18+ OR SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing 500+; USD Intensive English Program (IEP) Successful completion of USD’s Intensive English Program Level 3; ELS Language Center Successful completion of the ELS English for Academic Purposes level 112; Cambridge International Examinations - English subject A-Level with C or higher; International Baccalaureate (IB) - IB English A (4 or higher) or IB English B (6 or higher).
