专业概况

在这里学什么？

A Sport Psychology degree provides you with the understanding to optimise athletic performance and well-being by studying the psychology behind sport. You will explore key factors affecting sports performance, such as anxiety, self-confidence, motivation, stress, coping, concentration and sport injury.

Why study Sport Psychology (with a Foundation Year)?

We will teach you the key concepts and theories of Sport Psychology, as well as giving you a comprehensive grounding in all core areas of psychology.

This course will provide you with a strong scientific understanding of the mind, brain, behaviour and experience and the complex interactions between these elements.

Why St Mary's?

Our BSc Sport Psychology programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society (subject to approval). Graduation through the accredited route means that you will be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society.

Our programme contains research informed teaching delivered by lecturers who are able to draw on their own research and expertise. You will also learn key transferable skills, enabling you to apply knowledge and undertake your own supervised research, exploring the impact of Sport Psychology across different contexts.

With a smaller size year group than other universities, we are able to create a community environment where students are provided with support by staff and fellow students.

You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement during your degree in the local or wider London area. Previous students have been placed with mental health charities, in schools and within sport coaching.

About the Foundation Year

Our four-year degree programmes (including a foundation year) provide an alternative route to undergraduate study at university if you do not have the grades to access higher education in the traditional way.

On successful completion of the Psychology Foundation Year pathway you will progress on to the three-year undergraduate degree in Sport Psychology.

Assessment methods

Modules are assessed through a variety of teaching methods including examinations, presentations, practical workshops, reports and case studies

Career opportunities

Students can undertake further study in education, research or occupational fields, subsequent to them being awarded Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.

The knowledge and skills acquired during the degree are very marketable and can enhance job prospects in almost any career option.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students who have completed the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao ) with an average total score of 70%, will normally be accepted for undergraduate entry. All our undergraduate and foundation degree programmes require 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in any section.
