专业概况

Overview

The MSc Primary and Community Care is ideal if you are a Registered Healthcare Professional currently working in a primary care and/or community care setting. It will provide you with a flexible, learner centred and practice focused programme of study which aims to meet your personal, professional and practice development needs. The course reflects the growing field of advanced clinical practice and aligns to the guidelines for General Practice Nursing produced by the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Royal College of Nursing’s Advanced Practice Guidelines, Health Education England’s pillars of Advanced Practice and the Queen’s Nursing Institute’s Voluntary Standards for Education and Practice.

About The Course

The MSc Primary and Community Care is a specialised Master’s degree Programme designed to provide Registered Healthcare Professionals (who are currently working in the Primary or Community Care setting) with a supportive yet challenging, flexible, learner-centred but practice focused programme of study, which aims to meet their personal, professional and practice development needs. It aims to produce high-calibre post graduates who are autonomous, reflexive, possessing of inquiring and analytical minds as part of their continued professional development required by their relevant Professional Regulatory body.

The course will support your postgraduate prospects professionally, by adding quality to the care you provide, and will promote your continued study at doctoral level and beyond. The curriculum design focuses on both professional and service requirements supported by key generic competencies which cross all modules, including autonomous practice, critical thinking, high levels of problem solving and decision making, values based care, practice improvement and innovation, and clinical leadership and management.

The focus of this course will be on the promotion of strong professional values, holistic individualised care provision and the ability to liaise effectively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Its aim is to promote community health and well-being and it will have a strong focus on individual patient needs as well as that of the community. Skills gained will relate to the promotion of the self-care agenda and will focus on early intervention in an attempt to prevent unnecessary ill health, condition deterioration and avoid hospital admission.

In addition, many elements of the course are contextually transferable and the acquisition of these skills will prepare you for advanced clinical and leadership roles, especially those that reflect the current Health Education England ACP Framework.
