专业概况

The undergraduate life sciences major offered in Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences is the Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. The curriculum for the Biological Sciences major includes the following components:

REQUIRED COURSES IN RELATED FIELDS

Mathematics 214-0, 218-3, 220-2, or 224-0, plus a course in statistics Chemistry 132, 152, or 172. Chemistry 210-1,2 (or 212-1,2) Physics 130-1,2 (or 135-1,2; or 125-1,2)

REQUIRED COURSES IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Biological Sciences 215, 217, & 219 Biological Sciences 220, 221, & 222 Biological Sciences 301 Biological Sciences 341 OR 342 Three specified Concentration courses One additional 300 level BIOL SCI course

This 300 level course cannot be a 398 or 399 (BIOL_SCI 397 CAN be used here). Note for HPME students: This is our only requirement to which an HPME waiver may be applied.

(This concentration is not available to students also pursuing a Biochemistry concentration within the Chemistry major.)

4. Molecular Neurobiology

(This concentration is not available to students also pursuing a Neuroscience major.)

302 Fundamentals of Neurobiology 303 Molecular Neurobiology One of: 305 or 307

5. Ecology, Evolution, & Conservation Biology

(Available September 1st, 2019)

339 Critical Topics in Ecology and Conservation Two of: 332, 333, 336, 337, 344, 346, 347, 349, or 350

6. Interdisciplinary Biology

(Available September 1st, 2019)

An approved Interdisciplinary Biology concentration will include four classes that form a coherent course of study. (Students declaring this concentration will not have a required 300 level Elective, thus equilibrating the total number of required 300 level classes.)
