专业概况

在这里学什么？

The goal of epidemiology is to identify the patterns and determinants of health and disease in human populations which may be used to determine appropriate health promotion and preventive responses.

Students may collaborate with colleagues in other departments to apply their epidemiologic and biostatistics skills to various interdisciplinary areas. Practical placements are available in a myriad of settings to allow students the opportunity to apply their skills.

Students will leave the program with a broad exposure to public health issues. They also will have developed the skills necessary to play an active role in improving the health of the population, particularly in rural settings.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional master's degree designed to provide practical training in areas related to public health practice. Along with coursework in epidemiological theory and methods, the MPH in epidemiology exposes candidates to the other core public health areas (biostatistics, environmental and occupation health, public health policy and management, and social and behavioral sciences). Students also complete a practicum as part of their training.
