With a dedication to practical learning, the music and technology program at Stevens empowers students with the technological skills and artistic confidence needed to succeed in the professional world. Students within this Bachelor of Arts program often find themselves mixing tracks within professional studios, playing with virtual reality and audio spatialization, and producing new sounds for movie scores. A dedication to music theory and instrument learning underpins the curriculum, imparting artistic knowledge and rigor on all graduates.
Additional classes address music composition, production and sound design, and throughout the program, students grow comfortable and confident using cutting-edge software and hardware. Time and time again, our graduates’ skills and creativity have impressed industry professionals and hiring committees, and our alumni work as engineers, composers, photographers, artists, and more.

The program, housed within the College of Arts and Letters, also believes in providing applicants the best opportunities to showcase their talents and skills. Therefore, prospective students are provided two different options on how to provide standardized testing and portfolios within their applications.
At Stevens, music and technology is neither a traditional conservatory experience, nor a sound engineering education. Our program integrates these approaches: students can explore their creativity while developing technological and computational skill sets that prepare them for a career in the arts and entertainment. The music and technology program offer a curriculum that prepares musicians for the fast pace and ever-changing demands of the industry. Students can choose to focus their studies in Electronic Music, Composition and Theory, or Sound Recording and Production.
