专业概况

在这里学什么？ Our Sociology course allows you to develop your understanding of how humans shape and are shaped by the society they live in. You will develop a critical understanding of contemporary sociological themes and issues whilst learning to apply sociological concepts on a global scale. Core modules that you will study provide you with a foundation of knowledge and understanding of the discipline. You will then develop your knowledge further and will be able to add areas of personal interest such as international development, politics, media and culture, and deviance.You will have the opportunity to study outside of the UK for a week as part of an international field trip. The field module provides you with a valuable opportunity to get prepared and conduct sociological research ‘in the field’. You will have the chance to draw upon your prior knowledge and social research skills through studying one particular topic of sociological interest related to the social context of the field trip such as social change, ethnicity and religion. Past international field trips have been to the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Sweden and Greece. Please note that there is a cost of the field trip which is not covered by the University fees.The placement module includes a number of skills-based workshops to enhance your employability and prepare you for the working environment. Many of our students find placements with a wide variety of organisations both in and around Northampton and in their home locations, including the health and care sectors, schools, and also in charitable organisations.The skills, knowledge and competencies that you will develop will equip you for a wide range of careers.
