专业概况

The Master of Science (MS) Program offers advanced study in Kinesiology to prepare graduate students for doctoral and professional programs and careers in the promotion of physical activity. The program offers a Thesis or Project Option for students and is designed to strengthen the breadth and depth of the student's academic preparation in Kinesiology and professional fields. The program incorporates the theoretical, scientific, and practical knowledge in exercise, health, nutrition, sport, and physical activity as applied in preventive, clinical, educational, military, recreational, and commercial settings.

Graduates are prepared for careers in a wide range of professional roles that include worksite health promotion, clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, commercial fitness, public/private or non-profit health agencies, obesity/diabetes and heart disease prevention and treatment, teaching/coaching, independent research in a field of specialization, or continued graduate study at doctoral granting institutions. The curriculum and coursework in the Kinesiology M.S. degree program is designed to meet the mission of preparing students to be leaders in the fields of physical activity, health, and disease prevention and treatment. The common theme that binds us together is the study of physical activity and relationships with health and human performance.

Students complete a minimum of 30 graduate units in Kinesiology or supporting courses approved by the graduate advisor. A minimum of 15 of these units must be at the graduate level (500-600 courses). Upper division courses (300-400) level may be used in the program with advisor approval. Each semester students should meet with their graduate advisor to discuss degree progress with an appropriate course of study. The upper limit of units supported by financial aid is 45. Teaching Associates have an upper limit of 37.5 units.

为来自中国的学生设计 The applicant holds an acceptable bachelor's degree earned at an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, or the applicant has completed equivalent academic preparation; and The applicant has satisfied any one of the following: GPA of at least 2.5 in an acceptable earned bachelor's degree, GPA of at least 2.75 in the last 60 semester units (90 quarter units) attempted. English Language Proficiency: Cambridge English Exams - CPE: C2 (200 or above); IELTS - 6.5; TOEFL - 80 IBT, 550 PBT, 213 CBT, PTE 53.
